The branch of science dealing with nutrition. The term is an outdated one, but you may see it from time to time. The term was introduced in the 19th century.
However, the reason the term is no longer used is due to the term being co-opted into having a new meaning: the discipline of “food combining”, a pseudoscientific concept that advocates for or against the combination of different foods to promote health, weight loss, etc. As such, trophology became an outdated term.
