Chomp Food Sticks Recall

An FSIS (Food Safety and Inspection Service) announcement was released by the USDA earlier this week on March 20th. According to the announcement, Idaho Smokehouse Partners, LLC is recalling a total of 29,541 pounds of ready-to-eat meat stick products released under the Chomps brand.

The products themselves are 1.15 oz, vacuum sealed products with a reported expiration date of 2/10/2026. According to the same announcement, the products, Chomps Original Beef Stick Mild, were sent to retail locations in both California and Illinois. If you are looking for other forms of identification of the product, the lot code printed on the package is 25016.

The contaminant in question is some type of metal. The announcement was released in light of two consumer complaints indicating metal being found inside the product. If you are concerned that you have consumed the recalled product and have sustained an injury, the announcement indicates that you should contact a healthcare provider of some kind. As always, if you are concerned that the product you have is the product in question, do not consume them. Either dispose of them or return them to the location from which you purchased them.
