Fun Facts:

- There’s more than one variety of ketchup, including a mushroom based ketchup.
- Unfortunately, someone tried making a tea from mushrooms. I do not recommend looking it up. It did not work out well.
- Raspberries are related to roses. They also ripen only on the vine.
- Vanilla extract has alcohol in it.
- Toasted Ravioli originated in St. Louis. So did waffle cones.
- Fettucine Alfredo is not Italian in origin.
- Neither is Caesar Salad.
- If you hate the taste of cilantro, you might be part of the 14% of people who think cilantro tastes like soap. People who do tend to share the gene cluster OR6A2, a cluster responsible for, among other things, helping people smell the scent of aldehydes, some of which are used in the production of soap and is naturally found in cilantro.
- Garlic is native to the middle region of Asia, encompassing Western China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, along with being native to Norther Iran.
- On the topic of garlic, China is responsible for over 70% of the global production using a variety of methods.
- The following vegetables are related to mustard: lettuce, cauliflower, radishes, broccoli, broccolini, kale, brussels sprouts, bok choy, turnips, and many more.
- Bananas are a type of berry.
- Almonds are drupes.
- When consumed in large quantities, nutmeg can induce hallucinations among other things.
- A single noodle of spaghetti is referred to as spaghetto.
- Pineapples were once a luxury item; in the 18th century, members of the upper class would strive to get the fruit at any and all costs, even if the fruit were unripe or rotten. Displayed as a symbol of wealth, people would spend the modern equivalent of $8000 USD on these fruits.
